A very warm welcome to this site. The fact that you have arrived here, probably means that you’ve asked yourself ‘who in the heck is she?
So here goes a brief synopsis:
I was born in London, grew up in the country and since I left home I have repeatedly returned back to London whether for university, work and now a home-base. I’ve spent many a holiday in Scotland and like nothing better than to walk the mountains. I always saw this as my sanctuary away from a very demanding and focused career that spanned across the education system from preschool to further education, special education, learning BSL and becoming a Head Teacher (another life dream). Education has always been a passion and it will continue to be so, much to the dismay of many I suspect. Interestingly what I have learnt/ consolidated about myself over the last couple of years is that my principles, moral compass and integrity are central to my being – no matter what the material cost.
Beyond work/my vocation I have been seen to jump out of aeroplanes (90 odd times), run face down a tower (rap jumping), tomb stone, ultra run, completed the 2600mile solo hike across the USA, supported ski to the South Pole (Dec 2015), hike/cycle LEJOG, run up and abseiled down sky scrappers …. so the list goes on. My outside adventures were the yang to my work but in so many ways it mirrored it too. Recently (Jan 2017), I completed a 51 day, 700 mile, solo expedition (unassisted) to the South Pole and became the 6th woman in world history to do so.
I can’t help but giggle at what this current adventure mirrors … perhaps that’s yet to be seen…….
If you have reached this far, I hope that you will join me on this next adventure – please feel free to join me on facebook (emma tamsin kelty) or sign up here for blog updates.
